Latin 316: William of Rubuick’s Holiday in Mongolia

In this unit we’ll be reading and discussing selections form William of Rubruck’s Itinerarium fratris Willielmi de Rubruquis de ordine fratrum Minorum, Galli, Anno gratiae 1253 ad partes Orientales.

We’ll be reading through the Latin text throughout the term, while discussing it in a Q&A mode in Latin during the weekly seminars. Outside the weekly class, participants will be expected to read sections of the text themselves, with email support. Experience in spoken Latin is highly desirable and students should be aware that the seminars will be conducted in spoken Latin, at a level appropriate to the participants.

Classes will be offered via Zoom. You’ll need decent internet, and preferably a headset or microphone and relatively quiet workspace.

Time: Sundays 8pm, US Eastern (Daylight) Time, starting October 3rd (2021).

Length: 10 weeks x 1hr

Cost: USD $220

All classes will be recorded and available for participants to download.
Classes require a minimum number of participants to run. Classes may run with less participants, at my discretion. Any cancelled classes will be refunded in full.

Refund policy:

More than 10 days prior, 100%
Less than 10 days prior to the class, 75%
Within the first 2 weeks of class, 50%

After the first 2 weeks, a refund is not available.
