Greek 228: Epistle to Diognetus

Description: In this unit we’ll be reading the apocryphal text Epistle to Diognetus and discussing it in Greek.

We’ll be reading through the Greek text throughout the term, while discussing it in a Q&A mode in Greek during the weekly seminars. Discussion will range from the textual to the literary and theological. Outside the weekly class, participants will be expected to read sections of the text themselves, with email support.
Experience in spoken Greek is not necessarily required but students should be aware that the seminars will be conducted in spoken ancient Greek, at a level appropriate to the participants.

Classes will be offered via Zoom. You’ll need decent internet, and preferably a headset or microphone and relatively quiet workspace.

Time: Thursdays 9:30pm-10:30pm US Eastern time, (The class time is fixed to 9:30pm, New York, regardless of other time changes)

Date: Starting Thursday 23rd April, 2026

Length: 1hr meeting for 8 sessions over 10 weeks (that is, no class on 7th May and 11th June)

Cost: USD $192

Other details:

All classes will be recorded and available for participants to download.
Classes require a minimum number of participants to run. Classes may run with less participants, at my discretion. Any cancelled classes will be refunded in full.

Refund policy:

More than 10 days prior, 100%
Less than 10 days prior to the class, 75%
Within the first 2 weeks of class, 50%
After the first 2 weeks, a refund is not available.
