Description: Minucius Felix’ dialogue Octavius is an early Christian apologetic text, written in a dialogue format, and focusing on philosophical arguments for the faith, against traditional polytheism, as well as defending Christianity from the usual range of charges in late antiquity. The Latin is elegant and rhetorically polished. The text overall comes in at 5212 words. We’ll read the whole of it over 10 weeks.
The materials in this particular class do skew towards ecclesiastical and Christian latin.
Classes will be offered via Zoom. You’ll need decent internet, and preferably a headset or microphone and relatively quiet workspace.
